These books are a collaboration from afar. Melanie and Emma have worked together on artists books since 2005, being sometimes near and sometimes far. We both find our lives and work is often
interrupted in challenging ways, so we decided to bring our circles themes together via Facetime, emails and Royal Mail. Incorporates calligraphy, print making, letterpress, paper cuts, photography, digital and 3d collage.

All three were made in 2022 in collaboration by Dr. Emma Powell and Malanie Bush.
About the Artists
Melanie has Artists’ Books in national and international, public and private Collections; including the
Tate Library. Melanie has exhibited at national and international exhibitions and book fairs. With a
design background, Melanie’s approach is eclectic, ranging from calligraphy through mixed media to digital.
Emma is a printmaker and bookmaker – specialising in experimental books, letterpress, screenprinting and paper crafts. Emma is also a Programme Tutor at The Open College of the Arts and has a PhD and MA in Sustainable Design. Emma has exhibited her work locally, regionally and internationally.
Emma and Melanie are co-founders and co-curators of ‘we love your books’ that ran fourteen themed, experimental book-arts exhibitions. These exhibitions can be viewed online at rejectamenta.com/wlyb where the work of hundreds of national and international creative book artists is displayed.
