My sculptural books evolved from a delight in pure form, with the play of light creating shadows and volume. I am excited by the combination of delicate details and strength, and of simplicity and complexity – also by the surprise element created when the flat book covers open to reveal thrusting sculptural forms.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Lizanne is a book, paper and textile artist, living near Cambridge, UK. Her work is intended to be “images that delight the eye and provoke thought”. It is sometimes representational, sometimes abstracted, and emphasizes line, form and colour – and is inspired by a wide range of sources.
